Honoring Dads Around the World: A Look at International Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a special moment each year to pause, reflect, and celebrate the men who have guided us with love, wisdom, and strength. While it’s often associated with backyard barbecues, handmade cards, and heartfelt messages, Father’s Day is much more than a date on the calendar—it’s a global celebration of fatherhood.

Although many countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Colombia, and Canada, celebrate Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June, the date varies around the world. In Spain and Italy, for example, it falls on March 19th in honor of St. Joseph. In Australia and New Zealand, it’s celebrated on the first Sunday in September, while in Thailand, the holiday is observed on the king’s birthday.

The idea of Father’s Day became popular in the early 20th century as a way to recognize the sacrifices and silent support fathers provide, as well as the life lessons they pass down through generations. No matter where or how it’s celebrated, the day is all about making dads feel appreciated.

Whether you’re spending the day with your father, sending a message from afar, or honoring the memory of a loved one, this is a time to express gratitude for the strength, kindness, and guidance that father figures bring into our lives.

From all of us at the Zapya team—Happy Father’s Day! Thank you to all the amazing dads around the world for everything you do.
