Happy International Women’s Day!

Here is to all of the women and girls out there! We here at DewMobile, Inc. hope you have a great International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is observed on March 8th every year by the United Nations and countries around the globe.

International Women’s Day is an official public holiday in over 25 countries and is widely observed in many other countries. Some people celebrate the day by purchasing flowers for the important women and girls in their lives awhile others use the day to annually protest for women’s rights. Whether you celebrate International Women’s Day or not, it is good to just take a moment out of your day to recognize the women in your life that have helped you get to where you are now.

The United Nations recognized International Women’s Day as an official International Day in 1975 to educate the global public about gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women throughout history. Every year the United Nations set a theme for International Women’s Day in order to inspire dialogue and this year’s theme is I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.  If you are interested in learning more, you can visit unwomen.org.

This year marks an important milestone in the global fight for gender equality. It has been 25 years since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted by the United Nations as a plan on how the world can work towards gender equality. On this year’s International Women’s day, it is time to see how far we have come since then and see what we need to do in order to continue on improving the world.
