Here in Zapya we love to improve, that’s why our Zapya Lite 6.4.1 (US) version no longer requires the Location permission on Android 13 and higher. Google finally responded to developers’ concerns over the misleading nature of the Location permission by making this update possible.
In the past, Wi-Fi capabilities on mobile phones did not require Location permission to function. However, since Android 8, Google categorized Wi-Fi scanning, which Zapya used to find nearby devices with Wi-Fi hotspot enabled, as a feature that needed the Location permission. This requirement was confusing and led to privacy concerns among Zapya users.
After feedback from developers, Google has now separated Wi-Fi scanning from the Location permission on Android 13 and higher. Zapya has made the necessary modifications to remove dependency on the Location permission for these devices, relying instead on Bluetooth discovery.
In conclusion, the Location permission was never intended for monitoring user location in Zapya. With the new changes in Android 13, Zapya no longer requires the Location permission on compatible devices.
Let’s enjoy this new update in Zapya Lite 6.4.1 (US) version!
